“Failure is not the opposite of success. It’s the stepping-stone to success.” ~Arianna Huffington
Often we think of failure as the end. A sign we messed up and need to give up and start in a new completely new direction. Sometimes, we even take the failure a step further by internalizing it. It can be easy to say we aren’t capable, I knew that would happen and question ourselves. Sound familiar?
Not only is this not productive, but it ignores the fact that you may be even closer to what you wanted than when you started. The “failure” may be a sign you just need a new strategy or a few minor tweaks. It could also be an opportunity to get even more clear before moving forward again. Maybe it does set you off in a completely new direction, but one that is much more in alignment with what you really want.
Here’s what I do when Failure gets the best of me. Let’s face it, at times it can happen to anyone. I use the Byron Katie Turnaround questions and ask myself the following:
- Is this really true?
- Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
- What happens when you believe that thought?
- Who would you be without this thought? What is possible when you let go of this thought?
I invite you to take your turnaround with you as you move forward and not let failure be an excuse that stops you.
Love to hear your comments below how failure is really just a stepping-stone to your success!
